Frustrated about unbalanced, unfair, inaccurate or incomplete coverage by Kansas City and other media outlets of the situation in Iraq and U.S.'s role there? Tell the media!

Media actions alerts sent by national groups like FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting,) and the MoveOn Media Corps have mobilized tens of thousands of responses per action when national media fail to contribute to the creation an informed democracy--and, the responses have forced changes in the terms used in coverage as well as the scope and nature of the reporting of particular issues. While monitoring the media is certainly not the whole solution to corporate-owned media conglomerates, compromised by their relationships with the very economic and political powers they should be watching, it is an essential part.

To receive an average of one to two e-mail action alerts per week with a special focus on Kansas City area media, especially the Kansas City Star, simply send a message with "SUBSCRIBE" in the subject line to kcmediawatch@yahoo.com . Your e-mail address will not be shared, nor will it appear in alerts sent to subscribers. The alerts you receive will contain a brief summary of the problematic media issue and an e-mail address, fax number, and phone number for contacting the appropriate media source(s). You will be asked to send a copy of your communication with the media to kcmediawatch@yahoo.com, simply so we can measure the amount of response to each alert.
